The police on Tuesday, the first day of the state curfew sent back those who found loitering around unnecessarily with a warning.
Purchase of milk, medicine, vegetable and items of daily use were exempted, but misuse of the government’s relaxation by some people was found on Wednesday. Soon after ASP Hariram Shanker ordered for lathi charge, the team of Kundapur traffic police and city police station hit drivers with lathis before sending them home.
As coronavirus is on a rapid spread, the state government called for a lockdown on Monday night itself. The pandemic can be controlled only when social distance is maintained.
