Bantwal, Mar 25: Reportedly, a person, who was stopped by two Vittal police personnel for unnecessarily roaming around in spite of restrictions in place at Kanyana on the state border with Kerala, argued with them and pushed into a pit before escaping. The man has been arrested.
The man has been charged with obstructing the on-duty police personnel from discharging their duties and injuring them. He has been identified as Siddique alias Abubakkar Siddique (28) from Muchchirapadavu village.
Kanyana downtown wore a deserted look on Monday afternoon. Siddique, who was standing in front of a shop, is said to have chided the policemen for allowing three two-wheelers to go Scot free without taking action. He reportedly used abusive words against the police personnel. When the police tried to catch hold of him he reportedly pushed them into a pit, causing injuries to them in the bargain.
The injured policemen got admitted into the hospital. Siddique has been accused of pushing the on-duty police into a pit, escaping from them, and obstructing them from performing their duties.
