Patna, Nov 26 (IANS) More than two dozen armed robbers looted cash and valuables worth millions from passengers on a train in Bihar's Saharsa district, police said Thursday.
The Janseva express train was travelling between Badla and Mansi railway stations, about 170 km from here.
Armed robbers looted nearly a dozen passengers Wednesday night, and shot and injured one of them. The injured passenger Sunil Kumar was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Passengers who were looted lodged a complaint at the Mansi police station.
"Armed criminals boarded the train at Badla railway station and stopped the train by pulling the (emergency) chain at an isolated place. They then looted cash and valuables from passengers at gun point," a police officer said.
Train robberies have become quite common in Bihar. In August, a passenger was shot dead by a gang of five armed men while a dozen handicapped passengers were looted two months ago on another train.
