Bengaluru, Mar 17: Underworld fugitive Ravi Poojary, who had succeeded in keeping the policemen of coastal districts and the city on tenterhooks for about two decades, is a mellowed man now. He reportedly has been asking for good fish curry in his meal and some drinks so that he can open up and reveal to them whatever they want to know from him.
Poojary reportedly told the investigating officers that being from Mangaluru, he is fond of seafood with drinks. "When in Senegal, I never missed out on seafood. But since the last some days, I have missed my routine. I find it impossible to stay away from fish. Please cooperate with me on the food front, and I am ready to provide all information," he is said to have confessed.
The officers say that he was provided with fish one day but he began to demand it every day. Therefore it was stopped. Drinks were not served to him. "Now, he sits up all through the night and claims he does not get sleep. He blackmails the police by saying that he gets good sleep only if he eats non-vegetarian food and consumes liquor. His eyes were swollen as a result. After he was treated by the doctor, now the situation is improving, "officials connected with his interrogation claimed.
Poojary told the police that he understands Kannada but cannot freely express himself in that language. He says he is fluent in Tulu and Hindi and can manage English to some extent. Therefore, people who know Tulu and Hindi were made to question him. "He said that he entered the world of crime when he hit an opponent with a bat when he was 16. “I began to feel like a king and entered the underworld with that pride," he stated.
Ravi Poojary also is said to have requested the police to confine his questioning sessions to Bengaluru police. He fears being questioned by Mumbai police. "When I was in the underworld, I had killed 21 members of Dawood Ibrahim gang. If I go to Mumbai, that gang members will eliminate me. I will answer them if the Mumbai police come here to question me. Please do not take me to Mumbai," he is understood to have pleaded with the investigators.
The state police were proposing to hand him over to Mumbai police once investigation concerning cases in Karnataka is completed.
