Mumbai, Nov 19: Schin Tendulkar has fans in every country in the globe, every city and village, and every age group. His pyrotechnics on the fields and gentle, non-assuming behaviour off it, have won him millions of fans all over, and his fans club spills beyond the sphere of cricket.
Mary Serrao, 86, from Mumbai, is a great fan of Schin. Serrao has closely followed Sachin’s growth since his early years in the international cricket. She knows by heart every conceivable achievement of Tenkulkar. Considering that people normally start to grapple with memory loss in their 50s, Serrao’s ability to memorize hundreds of details and figures about Sachin without fumbling, speaks of her conviction about Tendulkar, determination, and her passion for her hero.
Celebrating her 86th birth day in May this year in the company of Sachin is the most memorable event in the life of this grand old lady. Mary has been celebrating every achievement of Tendulkar and every record that Tendulkar broke, by preparing sweet dishes and sharing it with the family members and neighbourers alike.
On the occasion of Tenkulkar’s completion of two decades in international cricket recently, she had made fish curry, which she claims, is a favourite dish of the batting maestro. Her blessing from the depths of her heart for Sachin is that he should live to hit a century in his life too.
