Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Mar 15: A case was registered in the town police station here after beef was found in a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus that was moving towards Puttur from Mangaluru. The bus was plying from Panaji to Puttur and it belonged to Puttur unit of KSRTC.

The beef was placed under one of the seats of the said bus. A worker of a Hindu organization here had got information that the bus had several beef sachets and the conductor was delivering these sachets to individuals on the way. Acting on this information, Bajrang Dal workers checked the bus when it arrived at the KSRTC bus stand and confirmed that beef was indeed kept inside the bus. When the bus left for the local depot they followed it. When the police reached the depot and checked the bus, they found five sachets of beef weighing one kg each.

The police took the conductor of the bus, identified as Shanthappa, into custody, and questioned him. He, however, claimed that he was not aware of the presence of beef inside the bus. But the police registered a case against the conductor, as he is responsible for things happening inside the bus.
