Mumbai, Nov 16: ‘Makkalotsava – 2009’, a programme organized to celebrate Children’s Day, was held at Radhabai Timmappa Bhandary auditorium of Bunts Bhavan, here on Saturday November 14, on the occasion of the seventh annual day celebrations of ‘Chinnara Bimba’ - a children’s drama troupe of Kala Jagattu, which has been promoting Kannada and Tulu culture and traditions through various plays across the metro.
Dr B R Shetty, managing director of New Medical Centre, Abu Dhabi, presided over the programme.
Rayan Global Schools and Rayan International Group of Institutions managing director, Grace Pinto, Karnataka former minister, Jayaprakash Hegde, Bunts Sangh president, Aikala Harish Shetty, Keertiraj K Salian of Mogaveera Co-operative Bank, Sahana Builders managing director, Sudhakar Shetty, and Mumbai University head of the department of Kannada, Dr G N Upadhya, were present at the dais.
‘Little Champs’ fame TV artistes, Anamika Choudhary and Abhijnan Das, ‘Voice of India’ artiste Abbas, Ritisha Bangalore and a few child artistes from the cine world, were the specially invited guests.
Over 50 child artistes of ‘Chinnara Bimba’ staged a Tulu play titled ‘Jokulu Dever' and Yakshagana episodes, ‘Bhasmasura Mohini’ and ‘Koteda Babbu’, directed by ‘Kalajagattu’ founder, Vijay Kumar Shetty. Tulu folklore extravaganza was also staged by ‘Chinnara Bimba’ on this occasion.
‘Chinnara Bimba’ co-founder Prakash B Bhandary, Kalagattu Chinnara Bimba Charitable Trust's managing trustee, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Surendra Kumar Hegde, ‘Chinnara Bimba’ founder president and trustee, Pooja Bhandary, executive president, Naina P Bhandary, honorary chief secretary, Shreyas S Hegde, honorary treasurer, Veena Bhaskar Sarapady and leaders of 18 ‘Chinnara Bimba’ camps and hundreds of members were present.
