Chamarajanagar, Mar 9: A young man had eloped with a married woman living in his neighbourhood recently. Unable to bear the harassment of the said woman's family, the mother and a brother of the youth in question ended their lives.
Mahadevamma (45) and her son, Siddaraju (26), committed suicide.
Mahadevamma's younger son, Nanjundi (24), had disappeared along with a 35-year-old married woman last week. Agitated by this shameful incident, the woman's mother-in-law, son, Keerthi, and daughter, Chandramma, along with son-in-law, Swamy, used to come near Mahadevamma's house every day and give rise to the ruckus, asking the family to inform them the whereabouts of Nanjundi. They pressurized Mahadevamma incessantly to summon her younger son back home.
Unable to bear the harassment and feeling of insult the family faced out of the incident, Mahadevamma and her elder son, Siddaraju, committed suicide. Based on a complaint filed by Mahadevamma's brother, Ramakrishna, Begur station police have registered a case and arrested the four accused.
