Bengaluru, Mar 7: B S Yediyurappa, chief minister (CM) of the state flagged off the new express train service between Yeshwantpur and Vasco via Karwar from the Yeshwantpur railway station on Saturday, March 7.
At the same time, the work of converting Yeshwantpur -Vijaypura-Yeshwantpur to LHB coaches was also inaugurated. Union minister of state for railways Suresh Angadi and MP Shobha Karandlaje together with top railway officials were present.
This train will depart from Yeshwantpur railway station at 6.45 pm and reach Vasco-Da-Gama railway station of Goa on the following day at 10.30 am. The return train will start from Vasco-Da-Gama in Goa at 3.20 pm and reach Karwar at 6 pm and will reach Bengaluru at 8 am the following morning. This will run every day. The Karwar express which used to leave the city to Karwar everyday at 8.30 pm stands cancelled.
This train will pass via Padil of Mangaluru. The earlier train used to travel from Mangaluru City due to which lot of time was getting wasted. It will reach Padil at 3.36 am, Udupi at 4.56 am, Kundapur at 4.46 am and Karwar at 8.25 am.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Yediyurappa said, "I am happy to flag off the new express train service. Due to this new service the traffic on Shiradi Ghat will reduce. When I became CM, I had promised to give land and half expense of the railway projects and have kept my promise. There will be more train services in coming days."
Suresh Angadi, union minister for state, said, "This new train will be driven by two women loco pilots as part of the Women's Day. Shobha Karandlaje had pressurized for this new train."
MP Shobha Karandlaje said, "Many districts have not yet got the train service. Train service to Chikkamagaluru, the constituency which I represent, was given after I became the MP. During holidays and festivals, people of our part of the state travel by taxi and tourist vehicles. There are scores of people from coastal areas in Bengaluru. Today, the expectation of the people of our part of the state is fulfilled."

Bengaluru, Mar 7: On Saturday, March 7, the newly introduced train between Vasco in Goa to Karnataka capital, Bengaluru, will chug off. Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, will flag off this train from Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru station.
The inaugural will be presided over by minister of state for railways Suresh Angadi.
Union ministers D V Sadananda Gowda, Nirmala Sitharaman, MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel and Shobha Karandlaje, will be present.

This 14-compartment train leaves Yeshwantpur at 6 pm every day and reaches Padil at 3.30 am, Udupi at 4.30 am and Kundapur at 4.54 am. It is scheduled to reach Karwar at 8.25 am and Vasco at 10.30 am. On its return journey, it leaves Vasco at 3.20 pm, reach Karwar at 6 pm, Kundapur at 8.30 pm, Udupi at 9.02 pm and reach Yeshwantpur at 8 am the next day. It will have stops at Yeshwantpur, Chikkabanavara, Hassan, Sakleshpura, Subrahmanya Road, Kaniyur, Kabaka - Puttur, Bantwal, Suratkal, Mulky, Udupi, Kundapur, Byndoor and Bhatkal.
However, the night train between Bengaluru and Karwar which was being operated three days a week via Mysuru and three days via Shravanabelagola, (16513, 16514) stands withdrawn, a release from the railways stated.
