Udupi: Man accused of obstructing policeman sentenced

Udupi, Mar 4: The first additional chief judicial and JMFC court here has passed a judgement sentencing a person who has been accused of obstructing a policeman from discharging his duties.

The accused found guilty in the case has been identified as Kiran. Policemen on special duty, Imran, had found Kiran, who was wanted in a case, from near the Robosoft headquarters near Santhekatte. Imran was bringing the accused in his motorbike to Malpe police station via Santhekatte. When the bike was moving a little ahead of Jyothi bus stand at Nejar, Kiran, who was an accused relating to a case registered on May 7, 2015, suddenly jumped out of the motorbike and ran away. When Imran tried to catch hold of him, Kiran reportedly attacked Imran physically, and succeeded in escaping, and thus obstructed him from discharging his duties.

A case relating to this incident was registered in Malpe police station. The then Malpe police sub-inspector Ravikumar, had investigated the case and filed charge sheet. Judge M N Manjunath, who conducted hearing, awarded two years of imprisonment to accused Kiran.

Assistant public prosecutor Mumtaz, had appeared on behalf of the prosecution in the case.
