Puttur: Harassing college student in bus - Accused escapes from police station

Puttur, Mar 4: A person who was accused of sexually harassing a female college student i n the bus, who was taken to the police station, succeeded in running away.

The man had boarded a KSRTC bus that was moving towards the city from the direction of Sullia. He had made an attempt to harass a girl student sitting in the last seat. The girl resisted his efforts and informed the bus conducted.

When the bus came near the rural police station here, the driver stopped the bus, and the student complained to the police. The accused was taken inside the station. When the women police present inside the station were questioning him, the accused ran away. The man, who wore decent clothes, ran towards Puttur. He was chased by some locals in auto rickshaws and motor bikes. But he ran towards Lord Vishnumurthy temple and then vanished, eyewitnesses stated.

As there were only women constables inside the station then, they did not chase the man. As the student had complained only orally, the case was not pursued further.
