Kundapur, Feb 29: The felicitation in public procession to Anish Shetty Kalkeri who was declared world champion in kickboxing championship competition held in Thailand was held in Kundapur on Saturday, February 29.

Anish Shetty was honoured in R N Shetty mini hall jointly by Janaseva Trust, Moodu Giliar, Yuva Bantara Sangha Kundapur, Katkere – Koteshwar Yuvaka Mandala and Kionics training centre.

Anish Shetty responding to the felicitation said that those who indulge in sports should be identified and encouraged. Achievement in sports is not easy. “They work hard for it. Identifying and honouring them is commendable. I am glad that my achievement is identified. Thailand is strong in kickboxing. I am proud that I received training there, defeated a strong competitor in the world competition and won,” he said.

Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty congratulated kickboxer Anish Shetty at Kundapur Shastri circle.

A procession that began at Koteshwar by pass, was taken via Shastri circle, new bus stand road and concluded near R N Shetty auditorium. Yuva Bantara Sangha president Sunil Shetty presided over the programme.

Bantara Yane Nadavara Sangha Kundapur taluk convener Avarse Sudhaker Shetty, Yuva Bantara Sangha former president Sukesh Shetty Hosamata, chief secretary Udaya Kumar Shetty, entrepreneurs J P Shetty, Kamala Kishore Shetty, Anish brothers Harshavardhan Shetty and others were present.

Sachin Kumar Shetty of Yuva Bantara Sangha Hunchani welcomed and compered the programme.
