Mangaluru: Research students from Japan visit Kalangann

Mangaluru, Feb 28: A group of students from Japan’s Utsunomiya University are on a research trip in India. The group visited Kalangann, Shaktinagar on Feb 28 to know about Konkani language and culture.

The group was briefed about the language, art, different forms of its culture and varieties. They were explained about Guinness record, monthly repertory, plains theatre, sculptures on the boundary wall, artistic idols, Gumat songs and the items in the museum. It was followed by a discussion with the students.



The group had arrived under the guidance of Dr Josline Lobo, head of the department in Roshni Nilaya. The students were Umi, Chikuzan, Azana, Emy and Kana. Jasmine Martis and Diana D’ Souza were the resource persons.

Mandd Sobhann secretary Kishore Fernandes, Public Relations officer Victor Mathais, committee members Jason Sequeira and Jasmine Lobo briefed the visitors.
