Mangaluru, Feb 28: Personnel of Bajpe police station here have arrested two persons from Kelarai, Neermarga here on the charge of printing fake currency notes and circulating them. Color printer, fake currency notes, two mobile phones and a motor bike used for this business have been seized.
The arrested persons happen to be Dheerendra (45) from Kanjilakody House in Bantwal taluk, and Sudheer Poojqary (44) from Adyar Volabail. Three fake currency notes of Rs 500 face value and seven fake currency notes of Rs 200 face value were seized from their possession.

Both the accused had arrived at the petty shop run by Abdul Salam near Sooralpady in Badagulipady village on February 23 on a motorbike. One among them had bought a Gillette blade costing Rs 20 and handed Rs 200 currency note. Both had left after getting change of Rs 180 back. Abdul Salam got suspicious about the genuineness of this note. He immediately went to question the person who gave him this note, but by then the two had bought mustard seeds from a nearby provision store run by Muhammed Arif. They had presented another Rs 200 currency note there, but the shopkeeper got suspicious. The accused had then snatched away the currency note in the hands of Arif, pushed away Abdul Salam, and escaped in their two-wheeler.
Abdul Salam had filed police complaint about this incident at Bajpe police station on February 24.
