Mangalore, Nov 5: The department of chemistry, Mangalore University, will be organizing a three-day international seminar on Recent Advances in Industrial Electrochemical Science and Technology (ICRAIEST - 2009) from Thursday November 5.
Reliance Industries Mumbai group president, B Narayan, will inaugurate the seminar at 9.30 am on Thursday. This information was given by the University registrar, Prof K Chinnappa Gowda, at a press conference held in the city on Tuesday November 3. The seminar will be held in the science faculty building of the University Campus in Mangala Gangotri.
Various scientists from countries like England, United States of America, Germany, France, Japan, Korea etc., will participate in the seminar as special invitees and present their research essays. Topics on which the essays will be presented include the effects of corrosion and methods of preventing it, chemical catalysts relating to electronics, production of electronic science-based chemicals, battery-driven vehicles, solar power, etc. Over 125 delegates including academicians and industrials will participate.
The valedictory programme will be held at 12.30 pm on November 7 in the old senate hall. Prof A K Shukla of IISC Bangalore will deliver the valedictory address. Vice-chancellor of the university, Prof K M Kaveriappa will preside, Gowda explained.
Seminar Organizing Committee president Prof J Eshwar Bhat and secretary, Narayan, were present.
