Puttur: Young Brigade Seva Dal to host cricket tournament via blood donation camp

Puttur, Feb 26: Young Brigade Seva Dal Puttur to host Underarm cricket tournament for Young Brigade Trophy-2020, and a unique blood donate camp in association with Blood Helpline Karnataka (R) a familiar name among patients and general public for its timely arrangements of blood requirements, and in collaboration with KMC Hospital and AJ Hospital Mangaluru on February 29 and March 1 at Junior College Ground Kombettu, Puttur.

The blood donation camp is organised as a part of a historic and unique Underarm cricket tournament for Young Brigade Trophy-2020 organised by Young Brigade Seva Dal Puttur. To qualify the tournament, five representatives from each team mandatorily have to donate blood instead of paying entry fees. This is something that never happened before in the history of Underarm cricket. The camp is aimed to emphasise blood donation awareness and its importance of saving lives.

Winners and runners up of the cricket tournament will walk away with the attractive Young Brigade Trophy and cash prize of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. Individual prizes will also be given for those who exhibit outstanding performances in cricket tournament and to the team which donates highest units of blood.

The events will witness the presence of Lal Ji Desai president, All India Congress Sevadal, PC Vishnunath secretary, All India Congress Committee, DK Shivakumar former minister, Government of Karnataka, MLA Kanakapura, UT Khader former minister, Karnataka Government, MLA Ulala, Harish Kumar MLC and president Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee, Ramanatha Rai former minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada District, Shakuntala Shetty former MLA of Puttur, Mithun Rai president of DK District Congress Committee, Chandra Prakash Shetty Tumbe ZP members, Dr BM Umar Haji honorary president, MMYC (R) Bengaluru and Ka Ra Ve Swabhiman Bhana, Ashraf Shah Mantoor businessman, Dubai, Shalet Pinto president Women's Congress District during the inauguration and valedictory ceremonies.

The aim behind this noble cause is to bridge the blood shortage gap and empower humanitarian responsibility of saving lives. The organisers have requested public to take part in large numbers and donate blood.
