Beltangady, Feb 22: Beltangady circle police inspector and team during a routine vehicle check on Saturday, February 22, apprehended three men who were transporting gold silver and other valuables illegally.
The police stopped a Maruthi 800 car bearing registration number KA 19 N 8397 for check. However, the people in the car were behaving in a suspicious manner.
Upon investigation, it was found that the three people in the car were wanted in cases registered at Venoor and Dharmasthala police station.
The trio who were arrested and are identified as Satish alias Scorpio Satish (33) from Mundaje village, Ravi alias Puttu Ravi alias Jeethu (29) from Puttur and Harish Poojary (29) from Kudupu village.
A total of 115 gram gold, 61 gram silver, a laptop and a mobile phone were seized from the accused. Two motorbikes, a Maruthi 800 car, and four mobile phones which were used for the crime was also seized.
The items seized are valued at Rs 5,50,000. The arrested were produced before the magistrate and are under judicial custody.
