Moodbidri, Feb 19: A resident of Pencharu in Mantrady village, who has been fed up with the thefts of his cows, has approached the spirits and gods, urging them to punish the thieves.
Cattle thefts have become the order of the day within the limits of Nellikar gram panchayat of late. A villager, who has faced heavy loss because of these thefts, has hung a flex in a tree that has attracted the attention of the villagers and the passersby.
The flex, which is in Kannada, reads thus, "A few days back, three cows belonging to my family have gone missing. The cattle thieves have been inflicting misery on the villagers from here. Therefore, we have approached the gods and spirits at Dharmasthala, Marnakatta, Panolibail, Koragajja and Oora Kukkintaya, Kodamanithaya and other spirits and gods with vows to punish the thieves. We have prayed to the gods and spirits to see that the thieves roam around the streets like mad people," the flex, which has been issued in the name of 'harassed cattle owners', reads. A photo of one of the stolen cows has also been printed on the flex.
