Bengaluru: Samit, son of Rahul Dravid slams two double tons in less than 60 days

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Feb 19: It seems very clear from the performance of Samit, son of legendary former Indian cricketer, Rahul Dravid that he is walking into the footsteps of his well-known father.

Samit scored a double century last week in the BTR Shield Under-14 group I, division II. He represents his school Mallya Aditi International. This is the second double ton by Samit in less than 60 days’ time.

Unlike his father, Samit attacks the bowlers viciously. In the double ton that he scored last week, he hit 26 fours and a six in a swashbuckling 211 not out in just 144 deliveries. He had also shown the same hunger for runs in the under-14 inter-zonal tournament which was held on December 20, 2019, in which he represented vice president's XI and scored 201. They were up against Dharwad zone.

In the recent match in which Samit scored 211 not out, his school amassed a mammoth total of 386 for 3 in their allotted 50 overs. BGS National public school could only score 254 for 3 at the end of their 50 overs and surrendered meekly to the school represented by Samit.

Samit had also scored 295 runs in two innings, in addition to taking three wickets in the inter-zonal tournament last year.

The initial performances of Samit, which showed glimpses of his legendary father Rahul Dravid, were the ones in which he scored three 50s playing for his school Mallya Aditi International at the under-12 tournament that was held in 2015.

In a 30-over a side gamin in 2016 also Samit grabbed the headlines when he scored 125 playing for his club Bangalore United Cricket Club. His ton helped his team score a daunting 246 run victory against the opponent.

If Samit goes on in the same fashion, it is just a matter of time, before he also shines like his father Rahul Dravid, who played for 16-long years for India and scored a mammoth 13,288 runs in test cricket and 10,889 runs in one-day internationals.

Chip of the old block as they say. Dravid's son Samit was bound naturally to follow his father's footsteps. Just like a Punjabi where a son follows his father and grandfather to join the army as a matter of course.
Samit is going great with backing from an illustrious father who was a gentleman cricketer. Just like yet another fine gentleman named Steve Waugh, former captain of Australia. Both Dravid and Steve are true ambassadors of cricket all over the world.
Every single day, Samit has done well for his school and state in cricket. There is no looking back for young Samit and sooner than later we should be seeing the young lad scoring runs at will and leading his team to victory. All the best Samit Dravid.

That's really great news... but, please don't compare Dravid's sons performance with his father's performance. He will come under pressure and might fail to perform.
No one can match Rahul Dravid!!!
