Kasargod, Feb 18: Kasargod town police personnel arrested a person with demonetised Rs 500 currency notes worth Rs 43.50 lac in his possession on Tuesday, February 18. While a car was seized, two other accused fled in another car.
The arrested person has been identified Mohammed (60), a resident of as Perla, Ukkinadka. Police personnel after receiving definite information were inspecting vehicles at Vidyanagar in town outskirts. The currency notes were found in the Swift car that came that way. Two other men who were escorting the currency notes in another car succeeded in fleeing.
“The place where the suspects were heading to in the car with the notes will be known only after investigation,” said police personnel. Police have launched a manhunt for the accused who have fled. They are also trying to find out the source of the currency notes.
