Sullia, Oct 29: Local sub-inspector (SI) of police, Pavitrateja, who allegedly insulted a Swamiji, when the latter had visited the police station on Wednesday, later apologized for his behaviour.
Sri Yogeshwarananda Swamiji of Chaitanya Sevashram in Ajjavar near here, had filed a complaint with the policemen, alleging that a girl student studying in the school run by the Ashram had been receiving unsolicited phone calls from a person in Punacha village. He had been to the station for enquiring about the progress in the investigations on Wednesday, when the SI reportedly used derogatory language against him.
At that time, a man named Ganesh Nair from a Hindu outfit had come to the police station in relation to a case of cattle trafficking. The SI reportedly asked him to get out. The Hindu organizations thereafter, decided to organize a protest against the SI.
A meeting was later held at Chennakeshava temple, where the Hindu leaders demanded from the SI to tender his apologies. After the SI tendered his apology, the issue was settled amicably.
Local leaders Seetaram, Chandrashekhar Talur, Sudhakar Kamath, Jayaram Rai, A V Theertharam, Prakash Hegde, Lakshmeesha Gabaladka etc., were present at the meeting.
