Kundapur, Feb 16: In a tragic incident, a youth lost his life while swimming in a temple pond at Kota near here on Sunday February 16.
Pavan (22), a native of Mandya residing in Bidrahalli, Bengaluru, met watery grave while swimming in the pond at Shree Gurunarasimha Temple in Saligrama here.
Pavan had visited Sri Krishna Math on Sunday morning and thereafter come to Saligrama temple. He got into the temple pond for a swim, but unfortunately lost his life.
Pavan was supposed to join work related to engineering field in Bengaluru from Monday February 17.
Altogether, 30 persons including Pavan were on a tour to temples in different parts of the state. After visiting Sri Krishna Math, they arrived at Saligrama on Sunday evening.
It is learnt that the family had gotten ready to perform 'urulu seve' at the temple in gratitude over Pavan securing a good job.
The body was fished out with the help of fire personnel. The body was taken to the mortuary at Kota general hospital with the help of Jeevan Mitra ambulance service, and was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
