Udupi, Feb 15: Sheembra Shashikanth Shivathaya, who had emerged as a leading youth BJP leader, passed away at a hospital at Manipal after a brief illness in the wee hours of Saturday February 15.
Shashikanth, son of retired headmaster, Narasimha Shivathaya, had efficiently functioned as the president of Perampalli Yuvaka Mandal (regd) and Navachaitanya Yuvaka Mandal Sheembra. He had excellent organizational skills. He was the head of the BJP Perampalli regional committee and actively participated in its programmes. He was counted as among those who were in the close circle of Udupi MLA, K Raghupati Bhat.
Shashikanth, who also evinced interest in social and religious activities, was involved with the renovation and reconstruction of Tangodu Lord Subrahmanya temple, Mallampalli Vishnumurthy temple, Permapalli Edmeri Bobbarya Daivasthna, and Mallampalli Babuswamy Daivasthana. His contribution to the success of Permmaplli Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapati temple, Sheembra Vishnumurthy Bhajana Mandali and Udupi Paryaya was immense as he enthusiastically discharged duties at these festivities. He was also a good sportsperson and had taken a lead in organizing cricket, badminton, and volleyball tournaments at Perampalli. He was a member of Karamblli zone Brahmin Committee. He was unmarried, and is survived by mother, three brothers, five sisters and scores of friends, well-wishers and relatives.
Minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA, K Raghupati Bhat, MP, Shobha Karandlaje, BJP Udupi district president, K Suresh Nayak, Karamballi zone Brahmin Committee, Navachaitanya Yuvaka Mandal and Perampalli Yuvaka Mandal have grieved his untimely demise.
After placing the mortal remains of the deceased at his residence at Perampalli Sheembra today between 10.30 am and 12 pm, funeral will be performed, family sources stated.
