Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 14: In all possibility, the state BJP is likely to convene BJP legislature party meeting on Sunday February 16. The meeting is being held in order to draw up strategy to ably withstand onslaught of the opposition and to show unity and solidarity during the assembly session. Joint session of the council and assembly will be held on February 17.

The meeting will be chaired by chief minister, B S Yediyurappa, while state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, other ministers, MLCs and MLAs will participate.

Discontent is brewing within some senior party leaders of the party on account of overlooking their demand for being accommodated in the state cabinet. The party leadership apprehends that some of them might choose to stay away from the session or their absence can also be prolonged. In order to handle such issues, the legislature party meeting is being held. The main purpose of the meeting will be to make sure that the BJP members will stay united and face the criticism from the opposition constructively.

The Congress and the JD(S) members are likely to raise issues like loan waiver scheme confusion, cheque bounce case, firing at Mangaluru during anti Citizenship Amendment Act protests, and some other serious problems the state is contending with. The opposition might take the government to task, and the said meeting will prepare the BJP leaders to effectively deal with these onslaughts.
