Mangaluru, Feb 12: There is information that the ill-fated Maruti Alto 800 car which met with an accident when moving on Pumpwell flyover on Saturday February 8 was being driven by a minor. The police are checking the veracity of this information.
The police have gathered information that a minor named Mujafir, a student of a college located in the outskirts of the city, was at the wheels of this car at the time of the accident. He does not have enough experience in driving cars but the accident happened as he was driving the car at high speed, it is said. After the Alto car crossed the divider and hit a Duster car, as a result of which the driver of the other vehicle, Praveen Fernandes, had lost his life.
It is said that five persons including Muhammed Mujafir, Ayesha Mahir, Khaleel and Mehr had gone to Pilikukla on Saturday afternoon. All of them happen to be students of colleges here. After spending time at Pilikula and a mall, they had visited Thokkottu. They returned to the city, and after moving around, were again going to Thokkottu when the accident happened on Pumpwell flyover, it is learnt.
The city south police who have registered the said case are probing.
