Mangaluru: Human Rights basic training programme inaugurated at St Agnes College

Mangaluru Feb 11: Member of the National Commission for Women, New Delhi, Shyamala S Kundar inaugurated a one-day basic training programme on Human Rights here on Tuesday February 11 at St Agnes College. The programme is sponsored by National Human Rights Commission New Delhi, organized by the Department of Commerce (PG), Political Science and Human Rights cell.

Addressing the gathering, Shyamala S Kundar said, "Today, our country has been looked up to by other countries because of the Indian culture and many foreigners are seen following our Indian tradition. Whichever commission is functioning today is working for the overall development of the nation.

"Today, things have changed, where women are not less than men, be it in any stream social, religious, economic women are making their mark in every stream showing that they are not less than men. There are various laws introduced which need to be utilized properly and not to be misused."

Principal St Agnes college, "Dr M Jeswina AC said, "Human Rights are inherent in every human being. Human Rights are entitled equally for men and women without any discrimination. There are multiple ways to promote Human Rights. They safeguards the interest of society. They are deprived to many, but we the educated need to be the voice of the voiceless.

Joint secretary St Agnes institutions Dr Maria Roopa, coordinator St Agnes PG Centre Dr M Vinora, co-convenor of the event Chandramohana Marathe and others were present.
