Mangaluru, Feb 7: Indian College of Cardiology (ICC) and Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Research in collaboration with Father Muller Medical College (FMMC), department of Cardiology is holding ‘Clinical Cardiology Update 2020’, from February 7 to 9.
The inaugural programme was held at Father Muller Conference Hall in the presence of director of FMCI, Fr Richard A Coelho, who presided over the function and Prof Dr Prabhavathi, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Research was the chief guest.
As many as 120 cardiology students came to attend the unique programme specifically design for DM and DND Cardiology students. This course encompasses mock exams, clinical case discussions, interactive ECG session, Hemodynamic interpretation, X-rays and emergency clinical situations and discussion on congenital heart disease.
Dr H Prabhakar, professor and head, Cardiology FMMC, and the course director welcomed the guest and delegates to the vascular series of sessions. He also reiterated the charitable nature of the hospital in helping of most needy and poor patients and thus has become the beacon of light to those who seek care in times of distress. He introduced Prof Dr Prabhavathi, who also was his teacher to be a gifted tutor and a clinician par excellence. She has made a name for herself in the realm of cardiology and has stood strong and tall in the field.
Fr Richard A Coelho, director FMCI, in his presidential address was proud and elated to see a sea of cardiologists gathered under one roof, come to learn from each other and be the best for their patients. Every bit of knowledge gained will be the succour for the patients and thus in turn will be a boon to the sufferers. Wishing them well he prayed the Almighty to shower blessings on them.
Dr Pradeep Pereira, cardiologist FMMCH and course co-ordinator of the event, thanked the gathering for being part of the event and hoped that the delegates will have a wonderful session for three days.
Eminent and experienced teachers from all over India who have been examiners for DM/DNB examinations are the resource persons. Clinical Cardiology Update-2020 gives a platform for delegates and teachers to share clinical expertise and skills.
Floral bouquets were given over by the director FMCI to the senior Cardiologist who made time in between their busy schedule to impress upon the minds of budding cardiologists. Prof Dr P K Das, Satya Sai Hospital, Prof Dr Balchander J, Pondicherry, Prof Dr Manish Rai, KMC, Mangaluru and Prof Dr Sriram Rajgopal, Railway Hospital, Chennai, were honoured.
Fr Rudolp Ravi D’Sa, administrator FMMCH, Fr Ajith B Menezes, Administrator FMMC, Dr Sayyid M K, cardiologist-FMMC and the event treasurer, Dr J P Alva, dean FMMC, chief of research, Dr Sajeev Rai, medical superintendent of FMMCH Dr Udaykumar, Sr Janet D’Souza, chief nursing officer and Dr Jostol Pinto, cardiology FMMC, were present.
