Kasargod: Engineering student dies in bike-van collision

Kasargod, Feb 7: In an accident that occurred on the morning of Friday, February 7 at Mutta near Bandyodu in the district, an engineering student died, while pillion on the bike got injured when their bike collided with a van.

The deceased is identified as Mohammed Shabil (22), a resident of Siribagilu. He was a student of P A college of Engineering in Mangaluru. Mohammed was riding the bike that collided with the van. Asheem (22), who was riding pillion with Mohammed, is injured in the accident and is admitted to a local hospital.

Though Mohammed Shabil, who was grievously injured due to the impact of the collision, was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru immediately, he succumbed to his injuries.

Kumble police have registered a case in this connection and are investigating further.

    Most of the students only ride 200 cc plus versions..and we see those flying on roads...parents need to resists these trend...and encourage public/mass transport

    These kind of accidents are on the increase. It is time that The Government takes the situation in hand and compel the erring drivers to attend driving lessons to be conducted by The Department. This is what is being practiced in countries like America.
