Chikkamagaluru, Jan 31: "The Narendra Modi government, which took over the reigns in New Delhi six years ago, promising to turn Indian into heaven, has taken the country to hell. In the history of India, such a worst economical crisis was not seen," said former CM Siddaramaiah, lashing against the central government.
Speaking at a press conference in the city, Siddaramaiah said, "Last year a budget of Rs 27 lac crore was presented at the Centre. Let tomorrow the public of the country know how much is spent out of this amount and what is the revenue earned by the government. They promised to create 10 lac crore jobs but the unemployment scale of the country has gone all-time high.
"The economy of the country has hit its nadir in the entire history of the nation. Central government is saying that the current GDP is 4.5%. According to me, it is 2.5%. In order to divert the attention of the citizens of the country from this worst scenario, they are introducing CAA and NRC."
Responding to the incident of shooting on the protesters in Delhi, Siddaramaiah said, "Protesting students were going to Raj Ghat. A man asks them "Do you want individual freedom? and fires at them. This firing is carried out by the instigation of Modi and Amit Shah. The police stood like mute spectators during the whole episode. If this is the situation of the country, where is the security?"
Answering a query on the statement of union minister Anurag Thakur that those who oppose CAA are anti-nationals, Siddaramaiah said, "What is the difference between Hitler and these people? What should we say to these kinds of statements? Should we call this as patriotic or anti-national statement? Those who are sowing the seeds of hatred are the real anti-nationals. Those who divide the society are anti-nationals."
Speaking on the challenge of minister C T Ravi on development of the state, the former CM said, "Ravi does not know to speak truth. He is a habitual liar. When he was in opposition for five years, how much attention he paid to his constituency? Now he is a minister. He was minister earlier also. Let us go to the villages of his constituency and ask the public there and decide later. Locals and workers of his constituency say that only Ravi had developed personally. People of his constituency know better than me."
