Beltangady, Jan 31: The inauguration ceremony of Sri Janardhana Seva Samiti, a committee of 600 strong youth to combat any natural calamity in the taluk, was held at Ratnavarama Heggade stadium at Ujire near here.
Dr B Yashoverma, secretary of SDM educational institutions, inaugurated the committee on the occasion of annual car festival of Ujire Sri Janardhana Swami temple. Yashoverma appreciated the effort of young BJP MLA Harish Poonja, who always does pro-society work.
Dr Yashoverma said, "Now Sri Janardhana Seva Samiti, consisting of 600 members is formed. The committee is formed to offer any service during the natural calamities or any other difficult times. The committee members have to make a resolution to build a clean and beautiful Ujire, which is the dream of many years."
Speaking on the occasion, BJP leaders K Pratapsimha Nayak said, "India has got world recognition in terms of standing up for truth, religion, justice and fairness. The young generation has to walk in the righteous path by loving and faithful to one another."
Presiding over the function, MLA Harish Poonja said, "Young generation has to work for the organization and strengthening of the society with the motto of 'Swanthakke Swalpa, Samajakke Sarvaswa' (Little for personal use and everything for society)."
Shashidhar Shetty, president of Tulu Sangha of Baroda was conferred with the title 'Kayaka Ratna' on the occasion. Administrative trustee of the temple Vaijayaraghava Padvetnaya, Sharathkrishna Padventnaya, president of Sri Sharada Seva Trust Bharath Kumar and Mohan Kumar were present.
Rajesh Pai welcomed the gathering. Timmaiah Naik rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Prajna Odilnala.
