Udupi: Kasturba Hospital Manipal receives NABH certification for Emergency department

Udupi, Jan 29: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal received certification from National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers (NABH), Quality Council of India for the Emergency department with effect from December 3, 2019.

Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, MAHE Manipal and Dr H Vinod Bhat vice-chancellor, MAHE Manipal handed over the NABH Certificate to Dr Jayaraj M B, head- Emergency Medicine, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. Dr Poornima Baliga B, pro-chancellor, Dr Narayan Sabhahit registrar, MAHE Manipal, Dr Sharath K Rao, dean KMC Manipal, C G Muthana, COO, Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent and Dr Padmaraj Hegde deputy medical superintendent, Dr Suneel Mundkur, Quality Advisor of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal were present. With this certificate, Kasturba Hospital Manipal has added one more feather to the crown of quality and accreditations. The certification is granted to the facilities, who maintain international standards in all areas of emergency medicine like patient care, patient education and awareness, quality of nursing care, communication and guidance and infection control practices.

Getting quality and safe acute care is the right of every patient who comes in through the door of the ED. Emergency Departments (ED) play a crucial role in providing quality Emergency Medical Care and hence reflect the ethos of care for the hospital. Kasturba Hospital received NABH certificate for the Emergency Services provided in the hospital by the department of Emergency Medicine, department of Plastic Surgery, department of Paediatric and department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
