Mangaluru, Jan 24: “The culture of the soil of the coast is fraternity and trust. People from all walks of life, religions and groups are participating in the Horekanike procession by Mangaluru Congress to Kateel temple to preserve and nurturing them,” said MLA U T Khader.
He set in motion the procession by Ullal block Congress of Mangaluru Vidhan Sabha constituency and Mudipu block Congress at Thokkottu-Kallapu Naganakatte on Friday.
“Brahmakalashotsava of Kateel means a joyful environment for the coast. Horekanike is offered together by people belonging to all communities. Let us therefore, work for peace and progress in the state,” he said.
District panchayat member, Mamata D S Gatty, district minority unit president N S Kareem, taluk panchayat president Mohammed Monu, member Surekha Chandrahas, Ullal block Congress president Santhosh Shetty Asaigoli, chief secretary Abdul Rahiman Kodijal, vice-president Suresh Bhatnagar, Mohammed Mustafa Malar, organizing secretary Mega Salim, Iqbal Samanige, Ullal municipal council member Basil D’Souza, former member Dinesh Rai, Mudipu block Congress president Prashanth Kajava, chief secretary Abdul Jaleel Montagoli, Muraleedhar Shetty Morla, Purushotham Anchan, ladies wing’s Devaki Ullal, Rohith Ullal, Mohammed Asai and others took part in the programme.
Balepuni gram panchayat member Hameed said that their family was participating in the temple fair since the time of his grandfather. “I have contributed 25 kg rice this time to begin with,” he said.
