Mangaluru, Jan 17: “The government that rules at the centre opposes Dalits, Billavas and Bunts. Therefore, it has implemented Citizenship Amendment Act,” said former union minister and senior Congress leader C M Ibrahim.
He was speaking in mass protests against CAA, NRC and NPR held by Citizenship protection committee Manjanady at Manjanady Pottolike grounds on Friday, January 17.
He said, “Who told Amit Shah that Muslims are scared? Let him remember that Muslims had campaigned when the country faced peril. Hindu is not the religion that breaks. It joins. Let Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat remember that he had circled seven times during his wedding. No other documents are prepared. Salam Arati is being held in Sringeri temple in memory of Tipu Sultan who protected the temple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah uniting Muslim community that could not happen during the last seventy years are praiseworthy. There is no EK or AP anywhere now. Do not describe yourself as Muslim leader. I am a leader of my country.
“When Advani raised his voice against conversion in the past, he had made fun that he has eleven children and is unable to look after his own community. Muslims ruled the country for 800 years, but their community members are only 30 crore. Giving the reigns of the country in the hands of Modi has become like giving shaving set in the hands of lunatic. There is fear whether he will cut the throat or shave. If it was Islamic campaign we would have held green flag. As it is a campaign of the country, we are holding country flag. It is necessary to call people belonging to all the communities for the procession,” he said.
CPM leader Sunil Kumar Bajal said that Modi and Shah are of Hitler’s offspring. “We have to campaign against those who are preparing to divide the country. The country flag should not drop down till then,” he said.
“Kalladka Bhat who says that Muslims are the guests in the country, should read ‘The architect home in vedas’ book written by Gala Gangadhar Tilak. Aryans had migrated from the north without being able to bear the cold climate of the North Pole. Therefore, it should be decided who are actually the guests in the country. Let the campaign continue till humanists leave the country,” said Sirajuddin Sakhafi Kanyana.
SDPI leader Hanif Khana Kodaje said that it is foolish to say that protesters will be scared for police rifles. “It is necessary to consider all as children of freedom fighters. The decisions taken by the union government do not get decided in the parliament. They get decided by Raju Mohan Bhagavath sitting at Nagpur,” he said.
MLA U T Khader said that the protests will not stop until home minister who is responsible for the death of innocent people resigns. “BJP is local in mouth but foreign in work. Let them fly national flag in their office if they have the guts. We have gathered to show the constitution of the country and not due to fear of NRC or CAA. I have come to proclaim that all are one,” he said.
Congress minority unit president N S Kareem, Vidhan parishad member Ivan D’ Souza, Kerala Congress leader Harish Babu, Ibrahim Batish Koodlipete, former Muda president Ibrahim Kodijal, taluk panchayat president Mohammed Monu Malar and others were present.
More than a thousand people witnessed the protests. Police personnel from Konaje, Ullal and KSRP squad provided tight security.
