Bengaluru, Jan 17: It is said that murder of staunch supporters of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) during the awareness programme about the act held on December 22 near the town hall here had been planned. The programme was attended by various leaders including MP Tejasvi Surya, and orator Chakravarthy Sulibele.
A number of protest programmes have been held against the implementation of CAA. The above programme in the city was aimed to make the people aware that CAA does not create any problems to the citizens of the country including minorities. It is gathered that plan to murder Tejasvi Surya and Chakravarthy Sulibele on that occasion had been drawn up.

Many leaders had taken part in the said programme. When the participants in the programme were returning, murder attempt was made on Varun, an RSS activist, at the road to J C Nagar. Six SDPI activists were involved in this murder attempt.
The accused, who came in two motor bikes, had attacked Varun with rods and swords. Six persons including Sadiq and Akbar were arrested by the police. During the questioning of these accused, the shocking revelation that plan to kill Surya and Sulibele were made was made. The accused reportedly confessed that Varun was not their target, but the actual targets were Tejasvi Surya and Chakravarthy Sulibele.
Since CAA was implemented, both Sulibele and Surya have been enthusiastically supporting the union government on the subject of this act. It is said that this had angered the young SDPI activists. They felt that executing the murder plan would be easier in a crowded place.
