Bengaluru, Jan 14: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, has written to the state director general of police, seeking to hand over the case of raping of a lady from Kasargod district in the city, and pressurizing her to change her religion on the basis of threat to expose the CD of her intimate moments with a Muslim youth, to criminal investigation department (CID).
Shobha met state director general of police Neelamani N Raju, and CID director general of police Praveen Sood, at the police headquarters here on Monday January 13 and discussed the case for some time with them. She noted that the case is not confined to Bengaluru and Mangaluru, but is spread over two states. She expressed the view that probe by CID would be more apt as the case pertains two states and involves the issue of religious conversion, a heinous crime and it requires in-depth investigation.
Speaking to media persons thereafter, Karandlaje noted that terrorists are being arrested from various spots like Bengaluru, Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Mysuru etc. She said she had urged the police top brass to demolish the terrorist racket. She said that the officials were requested to conduct investigation in detail and find out jurisdiction of the case as this case is likely to extend to other angles and get more importance. She said she had requested both the directors general of police to arrest the brains behind the organization or the main conspirators behind this crime.
In the meanwhile, south-east police division here has requested the city police commissioner to hand over this case to CID as cases have been registered in this connection in two states and two accused have been arrested. Police sources said that city police commissioner Bhaskar Rao, too has favoured handing over the case to CID.
