Puttur, Sep 28: Dasara has its own significance for all Kannadigas and is celebrated variously across the state. Huli, Shardoola and other ‘veshas’ add flavour to Navaratri celebrations in Dakshina Kannada region.
Meanwhile, the people of Uttar Karnataka, Shimoga, and Mysore celebrate Dasara by worshipping mythological characters in the form of dolls. The women join in the celebrations with by puja and also present ‘Bagina’ to the visitors.
Rohini Raghav Acharya, residing at Shiva Nagar for the past seven years, has converted her house into a doll house, for Dasara. Rohini is a native of Shimoga settled here and carries on the ancestral practice of worshipping dolls during Dasara and her dolls are attracting many visitors.
The collection of dolls of mythological characters number over 200 and are being displayed and worshipped at her house. Her doll house is open for visitors till Dasara celebrations conclude.
Rohini manages a tailoring centre in the city and her way of celebrating Dasara is a new experience for the people in her neighbourhood.
