Sep 27: Hyderabad Monthi Fest celebration and KCWA annual general meeting Members of the Kanara Catholic Welfare Association (KCWA), Hyderabad celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Nativity (Monthi Fest) belatedly on Sunday September 13, 2008 at St Patrick’s High School grounds, Secunderabad.
Members from all over the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad gathered at the venue in full festive spirit, the children especially so, with basketfuls of flowers, akin to the celebration back home in Mangalore. An idol of Infant Mary was taken out in procession with children showering flowers all the way and singing 'Sokkod Sangata Melleam'.
This was followed by Holy Mass by three Mangalorean SVD priests, Fr. Alwyn Mascarenhas, Fr. Felix Roche and Fr. Robert Fernandes. KCWA Konkani choir rendered melodious hymns.
After the mass, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association was held. New office bearers and executive committee were elected during the AGM. A cultural show followed, showcasing the talents of our young ones and some not so young ones. The gathering was later treated to a sumptuous Mangalorean lunch, catered as always, by Evelyn D'Souza. The gathering wrapped up the day's events with an enjoyable games for men, women and children and finally the Tambola.
