Bantwal, Jan 9: Mangaluru CID forest traffic squad personnel arrested three men who were trying to sell in Chikkamagaluru, scales of pangolins, the animal that is on the verge of extinction.
The arrested men are Haldoor resident Appuswamy (36), Guptashettyhalli resident K V Mani (37) and Moodugere resident M M Ragha (41).
The personnel confiscated 4.4 kg scales worth several lacs of rupees, an auto riksha and a bicycle from the suspects.
The men were waiting for customers to sell the contraband near Beejihalli bridge, Moodugere taluk, Chikkamagaluru. The arrested men are handed over to Moodugere RFO for further action.
Chikkamagaluru CID forest traffic department personnel PSI Purushotham, staff Jagannath Shetty, Udaya Naika, Mahesh, Devaraj and Chikkamagaluru forest department staff conducted the operation in the guidance of CID forest unit Bengaluru ADGP Dr Ravindranathan and CID forest Madikeri unit inspector Suresh Babu.
