Musact, Sep 26: It was a fabulous dance challenge for the young and adults of the Mangalorean Catholic community members residing in and around Muscat. It was a contest between some of the finest artistes of MCCP wherein rivalry of the titans exhibited on a neatly decorated dance floor. The Annual Dance Competition presented and organized by The Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP – Sts. Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi) at the main parish hall titled “Naach Amcho Nachoyam” (Let us dance) was the platform to many budding talents to present and perform the dancing talents to their best ability. Ultimately, a perfectly planned competition entertained the audience and enthralled the participants. Probably, the winners of this contest could have been crowned as “MCCP Konkan Idol 2009” or even kings and queens of “MCCP Dance Mania 2009.”
As someone mentioned earlier and it was truly evident this day, Suraj Rebello, a vibrant leader and enthusiastic performer of the Mangalorean Community is heading to become the Emperor of Records (Dakleancho Samrat) with his record breaking presentation of events and surpassing all the expectations of the community associates. Each and every member of his current MCCP administrative team had displayed a perfect discipline and demonstrated desired diligence in bringing out an enthralling entertainment and enjoyable dance competition for the fellow Mangaloreans.
As the competition approached, the environment around the main hall of Sts. Peter & Paul Church was charming. They were like magic moments for the enthusiastic participants and also thrilling occasion to their friends and relatives. It was evident that the parents of the participants had applied tremendous endeavor to train their children to impart the best dancing abilities on the stage. The efforts by the parents to design brilliant attire and plan dazzling costumes for their children exclusively for this event was certainly praiseworthy.
“Naach Amcho Nachoyam” – The Annual Dance Competition commenced around 4 p.m. with an introduction by Lydia Sanctis, Internal Auditor of MCCP with her usual dazzling smile and dashing style. Ever delightful Prescilla Machado, Vice President – Sports and Finance Committees offered prayers invoking Heavenly blessings on the event and the participants in particular. Suraj Rebello with his usual style and allure extended warm and cordial welcome to the audience, specially and specifically to the participants.
Cyprian Misquith, lively activist of the community and Honorary Treasurer of MCCP introduced the distinguished adjudicators to the audience. Eminent judges were; Ram Surender Pal, veteran Bollywood Choreographer and Dance educator of Western Style, Folk, Cinematic and Dance Aerobics, with training experience to Bollywood personalities like Asmit Patel, Aditi, Arzoo Gowitrikar, Tulip Joshi etc. Second on the roll was Ms. Kadambani Jhala – a member of the youth committee of Federation of Indo-Americans in San Francisco, having experience in choreographing the major performances at Muscat Festivals. Finally, Prableen Singh – a trained Bhangra Dancer; having featured with celebrities like Daler Mehandi, Malaika Arora Khan and Sukhbir. They were presented with the floral bouquets by Prescilla Machado – Vice President (Sports and Finance Committees), Monica Dantis – Vice President (Cultural, Spiritual and Community Services) and Lavina D’ Sa, cultural secretary.
Lavina D’Sa presented the rules of the annual dance competition and Jessy Pereira – General Secretary of MCCP anchored the competitions.
The major sponsors the event were Mrs. & Mr. Ligory D Mello of Technofit Trading Co. LLC and Enhance.
There was a special prize given to the lucky winner among the participants of the drawing competition and dance competition. The lucky winner of a grand bicycle sponsored by Enhance was Evonka Brown. M. S. Karthikeyan, Market Strategy & Planning Officer of Enhance presented the prize to the winner.
Marriette Fernandes, spiritual secretary of MCCP proposed the vote of thanks expressing gratitude to each and every supporter, benefactor and well-wisher.
The prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the Annual Drawing Competition held in the month of August 2009 was conducted by Lavia D’Sa. Rev. Fr. Albert D’ Silva, spiritual director of the Mangalore Community and assistant parish priest of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi along with Henry Martis and Clarence Pinto, ex-presidents of MCCP did the honors of presentation. Suraj Rebello, Prescilla Machado and Monica Dantis were also on the dais. Ajith Walder – sports secretary of MCCP anchored the prize distribution ceremony of the Dance Competition.
Enhance, market leader in the Food Industry in the Sultanate of Oman and a constant supporter of MCCP Event, was very generous in sponsoring sumptuous gifts to all the participants of the Dance Competition and Drawing Competition.
Ultimately every one was a winner; the organizers, the participants and also the audience. Sumptuous dinner packets were served at the end. A meticulously planned marvelous competition came to an end mesmerizing all those participated and also, witnessed.
