Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh to organize first-ever Samudayotsava 2020

Udupi, Jan 7: "For the first time in the history of the diocese, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh (R) is organizing a diocesan level Samudayotsava 2020 on Sunday January
19," announced Alwyn Quadrous, president of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh.

Speaking at the press conference here, Quadrous said, "After the erection of Udupi diocese on April 21, 2013, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh (R) came into existence. In
the last seven years, the organization has involved itself in many social and community-oriented activities. To make the Catholic community stronger, we have planned to organize Samudayotsava 2020, a convention of the community. This convention will focus on the future of the community.

"'Samudayotsava 2020' will be held at Mount Rosary Church Ground Santhekatte, Kallianpur.

"This will be a stage for the meeting of religious, political and social leaders of the Catholic community."

Margaret Alva, former governor Uttarakhand, Bishop Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, diocese of Udupi, Archbishop Bengaluru archdiocese, Dr Peter Machado, Bishop Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldhanha, former MLA J R Lobo, former KAS officer Antony Mendonca, senior journalist Gabriel Vaz, senior leader Maharasthra Janet D'Souza and many other leaders of the community will take part in the convention.

Catholics who have made a notable mark in the field of Agriculture (paddy), Health (traditional medicine), Political, Social and Communication will be honoured on the occasion.

Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, spiritual director, Santhosh Cornelio, secretary, Elroy Crasta, convener Samudayotsav 2020, Valerian Fernandes, Mary D'Souza and Gerald Rodrigues were present at the conference.
