Udupi, Jan 6: A youngster who was released from jail recently committed suicide on the night of Sunday January 5. The incident came to light on Monday January 6.

The deceased has been identified as Atish D'Silva (23), a resident of Katapady.

Atish was engaged in painting work. About five months ago he was booked in a case in Manipal police station, and had spent three months in jail. He was released in November 2019.

After coming out from jail, Atish was under constant tension and became irregular in his work.

On January 5 at around 10.30 pm, he had dinner with his family members and went to his room to sleep. On Monday morning, he did not come out of the room for breakfast, and the family initially assumed he was sleeping late. However, when he did not open the door for long despite his brother Ashwin knocking on the door repeatedly, the family members grew anxious and looked through the room's window from the outside. To their shock, they saw that Atish had hanged himself from the ceiling fan's hook using a shawl.

The family members immediately broke open Atish's door and saw that he had already passed away.

The body was later shifted to Udupi district mortuary.

Kaup police have registered a case.

    Are you so sure ?
You can google out and you would get the right figure how many people (specially from India) committed suicide by hanging during the year 2019.
The person who wants to finish life may go for any other option other than hanging.

The world accepts only high criminals.

The police, government doesn't have courtesy towards first offenders.

Probation of offenders act and all other rules pertaining to first offenders only in writings.

There were NGO's to save high profile criminals i.e in Delhi rape case and so on.

But we don't even have neighbors to protect our own guys. Whatsoever rest in peace bro...

Why was he jailed.. sometimes these police people, inorder to save big worms will simplyu mislead the case and jail poor people or poor youngsters.

Or may be for some small petty crime he might have been jailed. 3 months in jail??

what was the reason.. he is a youngster.. other than murder and rape if any other case, we could change him .... poor kid.. he might have suffered a lot and he could not tell it to anyone..

In gulf suicides are very less because there are no ceiling fans
Replace ceiling fans with table fans

Bad recommendation. In Gulf, no house can be occupied during Feb-Oct. if it has just fans. But with just A/c, all year through it can be occupied. Meaning, fans are not of use in the Gulf weather pattern. However, in India, no A/c is required at all nor the middle class can people afford it. Fan is a common electrical appliance, not a luxury.

People jump into Netravati. Do you suggest the rivers should not be let to flow in India ?
