Mangalore,Sep 24: A free eye, diabetes and blood pressure check-up camp was organized by the Lions, Lioness and Leo Clubs and the Lions club Millennium for the general public on Sunday September 20, at Milagres Parish Hall from 9 am to 12 noon.
The camp was inaugurated by the Lions district governor, MJF Ln Alwyn Patrick Patrao. The team of doctors was led by Ln Dr Jayaram Shetty of K S Hegde Hospital. The dignitaries included Fr Walter D'Mello, first vice district governor, MJF Ln J K Rao, zone chairperson, Famida Ibrahim and Lioness district coordinator, Lns Sumangala Prabhakar.
Lioness Club president, Lns Nynette Tellis, welcomed. Ln M Arun Shetty, Lions club Mangalore president, gave away the mementoes. Ln Nigel Pereira, Lions Club Millennium president, proposed vote of thanks.
Over 500 families from in and around the city were benefitted by the camp. Free spectacles were prescribed for 182 persons and 25 persons were advised for undergoing free cataract surgery.
The spectacles were sponsored by Ronald Colaco, Bangalore. Medicines and surgeries were sponsored by Lions Club.
