Mangaluru, Jan 6: Addressing a press conference here on Monday January 6, several Billawa activists expressed their opposition to the Billawa - Muslim friendly get-together planned to be organized on January 11. The leaders feel that this is a ploy to divide the innocent Billawa community that has been leading on the guidelines left behind by Narayana Guru.
The activists questioned the purpose of holding this programme other than for breaking Hindu society. They said that culturally the two communities are different, and Muslim community has inflicted murder, abduction of girls and selling them in Arab countries, stealing of cows from cattle sheds and selling them to slaughterhouses etc on Billawa community. They said that they have faced injustices from Muslim community and termed the proposed programme as farcical. They asked the community to stop spreading hatred through social websites and avoid anti-national activities. They also said that the proposed programme is politically motivated.
They demanded for the cancellation of the said programme before January 9 or dropping the name, 'Bllawa' from the programme, failing which they said that all the members of the community will gather in front of the office of the deputy commissioner and hold protest.
