Udupi, Jan 6: “During Congress party's ruling in the municipal council, I had identified 6.97 acre in Herga village, Saralebettu survey number 305/2 A, 1.25 acre in survey number 319/1B, 1.12 acre in survey number 191/1 and 1.66 acre in survey number 51/P1P1 government land. It was decided at the Ashraya samiti meeting chaired by MLA to allot house sites to all 679 beneficiaries out of the land. An appeal was sent to Rajiv Gandhi rural housing corporation, Bengaluru to construct houses,” said former minister Pramod Madhwaraj at a press conference.

Pramod Madhwaraj welcomed house construction scheme of Karnataka Kolegeri development board.

“A meeting of more than 20 officials and beneficiaries was held and discussions were held to identify Kumki land for house sites, solve Kumki land issues and to select beneficiaries. The sites were distributed after enquiring with the beneficiaries making sure that only one person in the family will get the site and pick the 679 beneficiaries by lottery.

“It is the responsibility of the deputy commissioner to allot sites to all the 679 beneficiaries selected in 2018. The municipal council has directed SC/ST to pay Rs 60 thousand and others Rs 90 thousand as their installment.

Pramod Madhwaraj requested permission for payment in installments for those who cannot pay in lumpsum.

“About Rs ten crore grant is approved to construct a Mini Vidhan Saudha of Udupi. Work had begun during my term.

“I have tried my best to make Brahmavar, a taluk. Three acre land is identified and reserved near old IB in Brahmavar.”
