Moodbidri: Body of youth who drowned found, mother suspects murder

Moodbidri, Jan 4: The mortal remains of Ratnakara Kumar alias Udaya Poojary (32), a resident of Gulgodi, who drowned in Kumaradhara river at Nidelu of Koila village under Kadaba police station limits on Thursday, January 3, was found on the evening of Friday, January 4.

Udaya Poojary had gone to have bath in the Kumardhara river along with Sanjeeva Poojary Maranga, Harisha Pallatharu, Sathya Rai Sunnadi and Baby Golithadi on Thursday and drowned.

Though the Kadaba police and fire service personnel, along with the locals, searched for the missing body of Udaya, it was not found on Thursday. Only on Friday evening the body was noticed by expert divers of Idyadi area. The body is sent to post mortem. Kadaba police have registered a case in this regard.

In the midst of all these developments, Saraswati, mother of deceased Udaya Poojary has filed a complaint in Kadaba police station saying that she suspects that her son did not drown but was murdered. According to her complaint, her son Ratanakar alias Udaya was forcefully taken to have bath in the river. Three of the four people, who accompanied the deceased are absconding now. Only Sanjeeva Poojary Maranga is with the police. Mother of the deceased has urged the police to conduct thorough inquiry of all the four people who accompanied her son when the tragedy took place.
