Mangaluru, Dec 31: With MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s another deadline of inaugurating flyover hovering around, Congress’ fact-finding committee with leaders former minister B Ramanath Rai, MLC Ivan D'Souza, former MLA J R Lobo and others visited the flyover construction site on Tuesday, December 31.
Speaking at the site, MLC Ivan D'Souza said that MP Nalin has been fooling the public this long. He said, “MP Nalin had said that he would get the construction work by end of December and also set January first week as a deadline for inaugurating the flyover. We can see here that the constriction is still on. This seems like never ending. The engineers here said that another three months would be taken for completing the project.
“To condemn this lethargic attitude of the MP, Congress will hold a protest on January 1 at 4 pm here,” he said.
It may be recalled, speaking at a press meet on November 16, MP Nalin had said, “The flyover will be inaugurated in the first week of January 2020.”
The construction of the flyover began back in September 2010 at an estimated cost of Rs 671 crore. The flyover had to be completed in March 2013. The deadline for completion has been breached eight times now.
