Bengaluru: ‘BJP is exiting from country on its own’ - Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Dec 29: Leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Siddaramaiah, laughed at the BJP by saying that the party has been paving way for its own extinction from Indian soil. "The BJP wrested power on the basis of tall promises made by Narendra Modi. The students and youngsters believed in these promises and voted for the BJP. As the party has failed to deliver on its promises, people have turned away from the saffron party and the BJP, which was talking in terms of creating an India that is free of Congress, itself is edging towards creating India that is free of the BJP, he stated.

Speaking after inaugurating 'Protect Constitution - Save India' programme organized at the Freedom Park here on Saturday December 28 as part of the 114th founding day of Congress party, he noted that the BJP has been ousted from states like Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. He predicted that in the next election, the Congress will rise to power in Karnataka and Kerala.

Terming Yediyurappa as the 'backdoor customer' who bought Congress legislators by paying a price of Rs 30 crore each, he pointed out that the current chief minister had not risen to power through justified means. He called upon party workers not to lose their moral courage and fight against a system that is opposed to democratic principles.

Siddaramaiah launched a tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for launching schemes like National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) for covering up real problems and to conspire against poor people, Muslims and tribal populace.

Former deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwar, said that India has been called not as a Hindu nation, but as Bharat. He said that the nation has embraced secularist principles to pave way for people from all religious affiliations to live in harmony. "Because CAA violated these principles, disturbance occurred. The world witnessed that students were killed during the protests. Whenever the BJP comes to power, it resorts to firing at the people," he claimed.

Former minister D K Shivakumar, noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been branding those fighting against CAA as urban naxals. He questioned the young people why they are sitting quiet in the face of such provocative statements.
