Mysuru, Dec 28: "The service provided to humanity by Christians is excellent. It is not right to insult such a religion. BJP leaders are not giving value to the sentiments of Christians," said senior Congress leader and former MP of Chamarajnagar Dhruvanarayan expressing his rage over controversy created by BJP politicians over the construction of statue of Jesus at Kanakapura.
Speaking to scribes in the city, Dhruvanarayan further said, "BJP members are doing politics over the move of former minister D K Shivakumar, who has gone forward with the construction of statue of Jesus in his constituency of Kanakapura. They mention the name of Congress president Sonia Gandhi for every issue. This is not correct. If it is so, have not the children of BJP leaders studied in convent schools run by Christian missionaries? Which is the college where MP of Mysuru Pratap Simha got educated?

"It is the duty of a MLA to respond to the feelings of local people of his constituency. That is why D K Shivakumar has got the land for the installation of statue from the government and he has put his own money also. It is not right on the part of the BJP leaders to criticize this good intention of D K Shivakumar.
"The minds of BJP leaders is filled with venom. They are not giving any importance to the feelings of Christians. Their statements are unforgivable crimes. Even animals have humanity. But BJP leaders have forgotten what humanity is. Are these human beings?
"BJP is implementing CAA based on religion. What the central and state governments are up to? The mentality of BJP is to subdue others. They have a feeling that in India there should be no other religion except Hinduism. Their basic agenda is to attract votes by provocation. Let the BJP speak first about the untouchability that is present in the Hindu religion. Let them express their stand on it. Their job is to create rift among religions,” he said.
