Bengaluru, Dec 28: The intelligence department of the state has got a shocking information that the Naxals are trying to get the advantage of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) protests, which has intensified in the state of Karnataka.
The CID has got information that the Naxals are trying to strengthen their hold in the wake of the countrywide protests that are taking place against CAA and NRC.
There is a possibility that the Naxals are trying to empower themselves in areas of Western Ghats in Karnataka and in the state of Kerala. There is a possibility that the mode of happenings that took a violent turn in Mangaluru are generally used by the Maoists. A senior police officer said that inquiry is being conducted in the direction of the possibility of Naxal involvement in anti-CAA protests that were held in Mangaluru also.
State police are brainstorming the anti-CAA and NRC protests that took place in the state based on the inputs given by the state intelligence department. In addition, the possibility of involvement of communal elements is also being tracked. Due to this, it is gathered that, the police department is monitoring the movements of those who have come out of the Naxal movement and those who are absconding at the moment.
On the other hand, the state police department has become more alert after the police firing in Mangaluru and the intelligence department is doing a reality check study in main cities of the state including Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mangaluru.
Denying giving any information on the subject, ADGP, law and order, Amar Kumar Pandey said, "The police department has taken precautionary measure in the state in order to maintain law and order in the wake of the present situation. The internal actions of the department cannot be made public."
