Bantwal, Dec 27: Bantwal rural police arrested one person for cheating various banks to the tune of more than Rs two crore.
Basheer alias Hassan Bashir (42), son of Hameed, residing at Shetty Apartments, Pumpwell in the city of Mangaluru is the person who is accused of defrauding Rs seven lac to Sumangala Cooperative society of Farangipet by giving duplicate documents to acquire automobile loan.
On investigation, police have to come to know that the accused had established a fake company by the name 'Carvan Automobiles' saying that the company deals in sales of cars of various manufacturers.
In addition to cheating Sumangala Cooperative society of Farangipet, it is known through police inquiry that the fake company Carvan Automobiles owned by the accused Basheer is involved in defrauding more than Rs two crore to various banks of Mangaluru, Bantwal, Vittal and Moodbidri by giving quotations in the name of other people.
Bantwal rural police have registered case under IPC column 420 and 468 against the accused and have arrested him. Further investigation is on.
